Bill Gates, a philanthropist and co-founder of Microsoft, visited the Maa Mangla Basti in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on Wednesday. Gates opened in Odisha’s capital on Tuesday night.
Gates has multiple events planned for Wednesday, one of which is centered on the application of artificial intelligence for farmers.
According to officials, the Microsoft co-founder will meet Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during his tour and attend events related to the “Mukta” scheme, which offers localized employment opportunities to urban poor people, the “Jaga Mission” plan for slum development, and “Mission Shakti.”
Since 2017, the Odisha government’s Department of Agriculture and Farmer Empowerment and Department of Fisheries and Animal Resource Management have collaborated with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to develop innovative data-driven decision making.
Gates said earlier on February 25 on his blog, “Gate Notes,” that he would be traveling to an impoverished area of Odisha where a government initiative is assisting women in gaining the abilities required to finish building projects for the government. He wrote, “Since 2018, this initiative has assisted 22,000 groups of women in completing over 52,000 projects, such as constructing roads, drainage, and restrooms.”
Gates expressed his respect for India’s inventive spirit and mentioned that he will have the opportunity to observe DPI, or digital public infrastructure, in action while in the country.

“In the state of Odisha, I will be visiting an agricultural monitoring center where farmers get real-time advice from DPI-using government authorities. Because of Aadhaar, this center can track 7.5 million farmers—including those without land—as well as their crops, which enables officials to keep an eye on who is growing what and, ultimately, what type of farming assistance they require. It has also created a chatbot that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to customize content to farmers’ specific needs and in their native tongue, making it simple for them to obtain the most recent information about their crops,” he continued.

Co-founder of Microsoft and philanthropist Bill Gates is presently visiting India, and his varied travels have generated a lot of attention and conversation online.
Recently, a video was posted on social media showing Bill Gates sipping chai at a well-known Indian tea stand. In the video, Mr. Gates is seen chatting with Dolly Chaiwalla, a well-known tea vendor and social media star, while sipping a cup of chai that he had made.
“India’s capacity for innovation is its greatest gift.”
According to Bill Gates’ blog, India’s capacity for innovation is one of its greatest global achievements. “India’s capacity for innovation is its greatest gift. There is a long history of significant discoveries in this nation. (The decimal system for numbers was supposedly introduced by mathematicians in ancient India.) India has made advancements in more recent times that are improving and saving millions of lives both domestically and globally.”
Gates will also have a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi while in India. According to Gates, their primary conversation point will be how the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation can keep assisting India with its ideas.
“The Gates Foundation is visiting this week to learn about how we can continue to collaborate with India to assist its ideas and technologies reach everyone who needs them, no matter where they live. Numerous of these initiatives have involved collaboration with the Gates Foundation. When I meet with Prime Minister Modi this week, this will be a major topic,” he added.
Bill Gates Biography
Bill Gates is an American computer programmer and entrepreneur who was born in Seattle, Washington, on October 28, 1955. He cofounded Microsoft Corporation, the largest personal computer software firm in the world.
At the age of thirteen, Gates wrote his first piece of software. In high school, he helped organize a group of programmers that automated their school’s payroll system and later founded Traf-O-Data, a company that supplied traffic-counting systems to municipal governments. As a student at Harvard University in 1975, Gates collaborated with Paul G. Allen, a buddy from his hometown, to create software for the first microcomputers.
They started by making popular large-computer programming language BASIC suitable for use on microcomputers. After this research proved successful, Gates quit Harvard in his junior year and founded Microsoft with Allen. International Business Machines Corporation, the biggest computer provider in the world at the time and a pioneer in the sector, was granted a license by Microsoft to use an operating system known as MS-DOS, for use on its first microcomputer, the IBM PC (personal computer), Gates’s influence over the nascent microcomputer sector significantly increased.
Following the machine’s 1981 introduction, IBM rapidly established the technical benchmark for the PC sector, and MS-DOS equally drove out other operating systems. IBM’s relationship with Microsoft suffered as a result of Microsoft’s independence, but Gates skillfully maneuvered the larger organization to make it reliant on him indefinitely for vital software. Manufacturers of clones, or PCs that were compatible with IBM, also looked to Microsoft for their core software. He had established himself as the ultimate kingmaker of the PC business by the early 1990s.
Being the largest individual stakeholder in Microsoft, Gates accumulated a substantial paper wealth mostly due to the company’s success. In 1986, he became a paper billionaire, and ten years later, his net worth had climbed into the tens of billions of dollars, making him, by some accounts, the richest private person in the world.
Originally content to keep out of the spotlight and manage humanitarian and civic activities through one of his foundations, Gates had few interests outside of software and the promise of information technology. Nevertheless, Gates reluctantly became more well-known as Microsoft’s influence and standing increased, particularly as it caught the interest of the antitrust section of the US Justice Department.
Opponents, especially those at rival Silicon Valley firms, depicted him as a driven, cunning man who is intent on making money off of almost every electronic transaction that occurs worldwide. Conversely, his admirers praised his extraordinary commercial sense, adaptability, and insatiable curiosity about discovering novel approaches to enhance the functionality of computers and other electronics via software.
Gates’s quick response to the unexpected public interest in the Internet demonstrated all of these traits. In an attempt to compete with America Online and other Internet service providers, Gates founded the Microsoft Network in 1995 and 1996. Through his company Corbis, he also acquired the massive Bettmann photo archives and other collections for use in electronic distribution. Finally, he developed the Windows CE operating system platform for networking noncomputer devices like home televisions and personal digital assistants.
Apart from his contributions at Microsoft, Gates was renowned for his altruistic endeavors. He established the William H. Gates Foundation in 1994 with his then-wife, Melinda, to support Pacific Northwest projects and worldwide health initiatives. The foundation was renamed the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in 1999. In addition to funding North American libraries through the Gates Library Foundation (which became the Gates Learning Foundation in 1999), the couple generated funds for minority study grants through the Gates Millennium Scholars program in the latter half of the 1990s.

Warren Buffett indicated in June 2006 that he will be continuing his commitment to the foundation, allowing its assets to reach approximately $60 billion over the next 20 years. The foundation kept its focus on community and education issues in the United States, as well as global health and development, at the start of the twenty-first century.
After a brief period of adjustment, Gates left his position as chairman of the board and gave up day-to-day management of Microsoft in June 2008 to focus more of his time on the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. He resigned as chairman in February 2014, however he will stay on the board until 2020. He received the Presidential Medal of Freedom (2016) during this period.
In 2019, the television documentary series Inside Bill’s Brain: Decoding Bill Gates debuted. After two years, Gates and his spouse separated.
Conclusion:-
Whether Gates’s exceptional success will ensure a permanent spot in the pantheon of great Americans is still up in the air. Historians are likely to see him, at the very least, as a businessman who was as significant to computers as John D. Rockefeller was to oil. In his 1995 best-seller The Road Ahead, Gates himself showed a keen understanding of the dangers of wealth when he said, “Success is a horrible teacher.” It deceives intelligent individuals into believing they are unbeatable.
